บทคัดย่อ :

Rail transport is a key mode for transporting goods and passengers in many countries. Railway wheels are constantly subjected to wear due to increasing axle loads and running speeds, leading to surface damage and a reduction in service life. Although ER9-grade railway wheels, according to the EN 13262 standard, are engineered for durability, they are still vulnerable to wear under operational conditions. This research aims to optimize the laser remelting process for repairing surface cracks on ER9 railway wheels by refining the process parameters to enhance repair efficiency and affect the material's mechanical properties. The study evaluates the microstructure characteristics of the repaired areas, focusing on changes in grain structure, phase distribution, and hardness resulting from the laser remelting process. Fatigue performance was assessed under cyclic loading to simulate crack behavior using single-edge notched bend (SENB) specimens in accordance with ASTM E1820 standards. The results of this study will provide valuable insights into the effects on the microstructure achieved through laser remelting, contributing to the development of more effective maintenance strategies for railway wheels and enhancing safety and reliability in railway operations.
